Entrepreneurial Attitude and Perserverance
Cervical Spine Surgery doesn’t keep Sandy Eulitt from Pepperdine Most Fundable Companies Showcase
Learn the lengths and expense I went to in order to attend the Pepperdine University Most Fundable Companies 2025 Showcase while unable to drive due to Cervical Spine Surgery nine days prior.

Me, in my fancy cervical hard collar, which is in desperate need of bedazzling, holding the precious bottle of Tylenol Muscle Aches and Pains that was a struggle to get, because I couldn’t drive.
I may have to dig out my eight glue guns, each with its own glitter glue color and rhinestones, to “bedazzle” this collar.

I was compelled to be there
I refused to let the second major cervical spine surgery within four years keep me from attending the Pepperdine University Most Fundable Companies 2025 Showcase, even though I was enjoined from driving.
“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” — Charles R. Swindoll
That quote has defined my life — and my company.
Nine days after undergoing a second major cervical spine surgery within four years, I refused to let it stop me from showing up for what matters.
I paid someone to drive me 80 miles through Los Angeles traffic to the Pepperdine University Most Fundable Companies Showcase, because when you believe in your mission, you show up — even when not optimal.
I’m Sandy Eulitt, CEO and Founder of Life Backup Plan by Galaxia, an SBA-certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and female-founded healthtech startup. Our AI-powered digital health and safety app bridges the gap between healthcare and real life. It delivers early detection of emergencies and illnesses, assistance alerts, personal health record sharing to designated contacts, first responders, healthcare workers and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, community assistance, and lifestyle and symptom tracking.
Doing what the Healthcare System Doesn’t
Life Backup Plan is a true wraparound lifecare platform that does what the healthcare system doesn’t.
In May, I entered the Pepperdine Most Fundable Companies competition, with more than 2,300 companies nationwide applying. Only 1,500 made it to the second round, of which Life Backup Plan was one. We earned a “B” grade for “Great Potential”. While disappointed we didn’t make it further, I wanted to attend 14 finalist’s showcase, to learn from them, see their pitch decks, presentations and product, and measure how our vision compared — because entrepreneurship is about growth, grit, and showing up.
That showcase came just nine days after an anterior and posterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF + PCDF) — rods, plates, and enough hardware to start a Home Depot. I’d already been fused C3–C7 fusion with a plate and ten screws, plus three lumbar fusions, barely four years prior.
An Attitude of Gratitude
My, then, spine surgeon apologized to me, for the surgery, pain and recovery I would have to endure. I looked at him and said, “At least I can be fixed. This isn’t cancer, heart disease, COPD, or me needing a transplant. Its something that, yes, is inconvenient and painful, but it is entirely fixable.” For this I am eternally grateful.
Pain, recovery, and limitations are temporary; purpose isn’t.
Life Backup Plan was built from that mindset — resilience, gratitude, and the belief that technology can and should protect people in emergencies and everyday life. Our mission is simple: help individuals, families, hospitals, and communities detect illnesses and emergencies earlier, respond faster, give healthcare workers better information, increase the social determinants of health, lower costs and live longer, safer, and happier.
Whether you’re recovering from surgery, managing chronic illness, caring for a loved one, checking on family members, dating, mountain biking, by yourself at any time for any reason, or working inside healthcare, Life Backup Plan is the solution for you.
