Life Backup Plan Founder and CEO Sandy Eulitt was featured in Meditech Today’s expert roundup, “11 Unique Approaches to Address Healthcare Disparities: Lessons Learned,” discussing why true healthcare interoperability must be centered on the individual.
Drawing on nearly 40 years of experience in software engineering, data architecture, technical project management, and STEM education, Sandy described her own inability to consolidate medical records scattered across multiple electronic health record systems. If someone with extensive technical expertise cannot successfully navigate incompatible portals, formats, identity-verification requirements, and record-release procedures, patients facing disabilities, language barriers, cognitive challenges, limited technical skills, or inadequate support are at an even greater disadvantage.
This experience helped shape Life Backup Plan as an Interoperable Lifecare Platform that gives individuals a central, person-controlled hub for their health information, medications, symptoms, lifestyle and wellness data, emergency contacts, support needs, home access instructions, and Critical Documents information.
As Sandy explained, digital availability is not the same as accessibility. True interoperability requires more than moving information between institutions. Information must also be understandable, manageable, and controlled by the person whose health depends on it.
Galacxia is pursuing applications for Life Backup Plan across healthcare organizations, employers, government agencies, utilities and infrastructure operators, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and large events and venues.
The company is also exploring opportunities to support Medi-Cal, Medicaid, Medicare, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. These systems serve many people who may benefit from stronger post-discharge monitoring, better health-information sharing, improved care coordination, and earlier identification of health risks.
